So close, but yet so far for Stone Sour, as they had to settle for the #2 spot on this week’s ARIA charts, failing to knock the unstoppable Ed Sheeran from his throne, where he’s reigned for 15 weeks now.
Corey Taylor and his non-Slipknot outfit Stone Sour have never hit the top of the Australian charts, but came pretty close last time around when 2013’s House of Gold and Bones Part Two peaked at #4 on the ARIA charts. So as The Music reports, while they didn’t manage to grab the top spot, they can settle for a pretty respectable PB with their latest, Hydrograd.
It was only the week before that Sheeran and fellow pop star Lorde kept King Gizzard’s latest album Murder of the Universe to a respectable #3 finish in its debut week, and Stone Sour were at least able to jump Lorde and Melodrama, which finished in third.
The pop surge continued, with renewed interest around Katy Perry’s tour (and koala-scaring Myer advertisements) sending her month-old LP Witness back to claim the #4 spot, leaving Stone Sour as the meat in an otherwise very poppy sandwich.
