The Sures Australian Tour 2013 has been announced to celebrate the release of the Sydney band’s forthcoming EP, the lengthily-titled The Night hero Waste Time Getting Better (TNHWTGB) out 23rd August.
Sures will embark on a co-headline tour with Brisbane all-girl pop rock group Go Violets in September for what promises to be a rowdy run of fun live shows. Making their way through the east coast on five-date run of gigs, Sures will be treating punters to a swag of new material, taken from their forthcoming EP.
Sures have also just unleashed the video for their current single ‘Waste’’ out into the world. Directed by newcomer William Colvin, the video captures the frantic energy of the brilliantly crafted, angst ridden, time bomb of a song, and building slowly until reaching a cathartic crescendo. Encapsulating the sentiment of the song, the clip also gives a humble nod to classic 90s music videos (watch it below).
Produced by Dann Hume (Alpine, Snakadaktal, Matt Corby, Courtney Barnett, Lisa Mitchell), ‘Waste’ is the first offering from TNHWTGB and demonstrates the significant development in the band’s song writing and experimentation with the darker side of their sound.
It’s been a busy 12 months for Sures after dropping their debut EP Stars, a release full of 90s-flavoured indie dream pop, featuring the singles ‘Poseidon’ and ‘Stars’. Since then, the band has split their time between touring the country alongside bands such as Best Coast, Real-Estate, Wavves, The Cribs, Vampire Weekend, Snakadaktal and Bleeding Knees Club, and writing and recording.
Sures will be playing at The Standard in Sydney on 16 August with Glass Towers before heading out on tour with the Go Violets. Don’t miss your chance to catch Sures, one of the country’s most intriguing and, no doubt, acclaimed young bands!
