2020 is shaping up to be a big one for fans of the Foo Fighters, with Taylor Hawkins revealing that album number 10 could be arriving next year.
It feels hard to believe, but next month marks two years since the release of Concrete And Gold by the Foo Fighters. The group’s ninth album, the record came three years after the release of Sonic Highways, and two years on from the release of the Saint Cecilia EP.
Being the tireless workhorses that they are, the band have been out on the road almost constantly since the record was released. While Aussie fans scored a visit from the band in early 2018, this year was supposed to serve as a period of rest for the group, before they announced even more shows.
Now, with fans beginning to wonder when this touring cycle might give way to recording sessions, drummer Taylor Hawkins has revealed to Rock Sound that the band’s next album could arrive next year.

Speaking in Scotland ahead of their headline appearance at the Reading & Leeds festival this weekend, Hawkins explained that the band will likely be hitting the studio sooner rather than later.
“Well, from what I’ve heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he’s worked on and I think we’ll start, once this tour is over,” Hawkins explained. “I think not too soon after that we’ll start the process of putting the songs together as a band.”
“It’s a long process, we do a lot of demoing and stuff, but I think that we’ll have, I’m hoping, I think we’ll have a new record by next year. We should.”
In related news, the Foo Fighters got fans talking after they announced a new live EP as part of some anniversary celebrations.
While it remains to be seen what these live tracks are leading up to, Dave Grohl also raised excitement levels recently after revealing that there could still be a future for Them Crooked Vultures.
“Technically we’re still a band,” Grohl explained. “We practise once every decade, and we’re coming up on another decade aren’t we? I don’t have any official news but there’s always something cooking.”
