We’re only a few days into the new year, but already 2019 is shaping up to be a big one for highly-anticipated albums, with The Distillers announcing their first album in 15 years.
Back in April of 2018, Los Angeles punk icons The Distillers hit the stage for their first live shows since 2004. While fans of the band (which is fronted by Aussie-born Brody Dalle) were just happy to see the band back on stage once again, the group went above and beyond, releasing some new tunes later in the year.
Titled ‘Man vs. Magnet’ and ‘Blood In Gutters’, these new songs served as the first taste of new music from the group since their last album, 2003’s Coral Fang. Now, it appears that more music is on the way.
Taking to Instagram yesterday, Brody Dalle welcomed in 2019 by celebrating her 40th birthday, and saying a few ‘hellos’ in the process.
“Hello 40 , hello vintage 80’s dress from Paris that I found in the desert 5 years ago for NYE and never wore,” Dalle wrote. “Hello luck , hello love , hello success hello divine protection , hello health , hello wishes , hello cake for breakfast , hello 2019 , hello you , happy new year ! @cyrilann.”
“HELLO making a Distillers record in April , oh yes das right.”
At this stage, it’s not too clear if the new record will include the two, previously-released singles, but if the new album sounds anything like they do, you can be sure it’s going to be an amazing release.
The Distillers currently have a handful of live dates scheduled for 2019, including an appearance at the Reading and Leeds festival in the UK, and the Sonic Temple festival in the US.
No word yet as to whether the band will be heading to Australia any time soon, but we’re undoubtedly eager to see them play their first Aussie shows since 2004.
