Arguably one of the most important bands in the country, The Drones have been on hiatus since last year as front man Gareth Liddiard has toured his acclaimed solo release Strange Tourist and drummer Mike Noga has taken on the role of front man with his own act, touring Europe with Band of Horses and right around Australia.
Now the band are releasing a new live DVD, A Thousand Mistakes. The DVD was recorded in 5.1 surround sound and will be released on with an accompanying limited edition of vinyl for collectors in September. It features an intimate live session of rarely played songs from their career that spans over thirteen years and five studio albums, including tracks ‘Stop Dreaming’, ‘The Best You Can Believe In’, ‘Work For Me’ and ‘Cold and Sober’.
It also includes a full live show filmed at Melbourne’s iconic East Brunswick Club in 2010, and a bonus disc full of live footage filmed in club gigs and festivals around the world between 2005-2010. The band are marking its release with a tour of seven initial dates with Magic Dirt’s Adalita opening proceedings with her acclaimed solo show.
