The Gooch Palms are hitting the road in support of their new single ‘Great Dividing Rage’. Proceeds from every purchase of the song are going to the Two Thumbs Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Gooch Palms are back with a politically-charged new single. On ‘Great Dividing Rage’ the Novocastrian duo of Leroy Macqueen and Kat Friend lambaste the lack of leadership in the midst of the country’s recent bushfire crisis.

“If you win, we all lose,” goes the song’s shout-along chorus. It’s a clear snipe at the Coalition Government, whose victory in the May 2019 election mandated their climate denialism. The song is full of ramming lyrical hooks.

“There’s no more keeping it polite / Not when the cost is all our lives,” sings Macqueen. “You talk about the economy / Like the earth is just a commodity.” Ouch, it hurts.

The ‘Great Dividing Rage’ music video provides a visually devastating complement to the fiery punk rock tune. Edited by Friend, it’s a montage of flames, suffering wildlife, oil tankers, disgruntled civilians and the culpable politicians.

Two Thumbs Wildlife Sanctuary was destroyed on January 21. They’re trying to raise $98,000 to rebuild. Once they’ve reached the target, The Gooch Palms will redirect profits from ‘Great Dividing Rage’ to “another grassroots cause in urgent need of our help.” The band are taking ‘Great Dividing Rage’ on the road from March-May.
