We’re still weeks away from the big day and already this year’s Hottest 100 has seen its fair share of controversy. We narrowly avoided a repeat of the whole Taylor Swift incident and of course, the betting companies tried to interfere once again.
In fact, there’s been so much drama going on that it’s easy to forget what the Hottest 100 is actually about – voting for your favourite bands and artists, showing your support, and giving them an incredible promotional boost in the world’s biggest music poll.
That’s why we’d like to refocus for just a second and bring it all back to what really matters. If you’ve checked your social media feeds recently, you will have seen some of your favourite Aussie artists vying for your Hottest 100 votes.
Sometimes it’s a simple, “Hey, our track was shortlisted for the Hottest 100, so if you have a sec, go and vote!” Other times, the band or artists likes to get a little more creative and in some cases, a little hilarious.
It’s these artists that we’d like to shine a light on, especially those like local hip-hop talent Ry, who went the extra mile and put together a charming video post and who’s currently operating without any support from a label or manager.
Voting for the Hottest 100 is still open so head on over to triple j’s official Hottest 100 portal to cast your votes now and don’t forget to leave a cold coin or two for this year’s official partner, AIME.
