It’s looking as though we can expect a new record from The National at some point in the future, with the group having finished recording their next release.

Back in September of 2017, The National released Sleep Well Beast. Their seventh studio album, it would become their highest-charting to date, and even took home the Best Alternative Music Album award at the Grammys.

Since then, the band have been busy touring the world and focusing on other projects. While we’ve seen The National provide music for Bob’s Burgers, and a compilation about a dead cat, we’ve also received word that Matt Berninger is set to star in a new comedy series.

However, it appears as though the group have also managed to find time to not only write some new songs, but apparently finish recording an entire new album.

As Consequence Of Sound points out, the band’s longtime producer Peter Katis had his involvement in a new record from The National confirmed by management company Worlds End.

In a piece of since-deleted news, Worlds End confirmed that Katis – who has worked with the band on almost all of their records except for The NationalHigh Violet, and Trouble Will Find Me – had recently finished mixing the new album earlier this month.

At this stage, the group are yet to confirm the existence of a new record, though their future plans have them booked for a number of shows around the world between June and August.

While there’s every chance that we might see an official announcement in the coming months, or later in the year, it’s looking like we won’t have to wait too much longer for a new record from The National.
