Figures recently rolled in that displayed the richest musicians from the UK and Ireland, reinforcing some things we already knew (hello, Paul McCartney) but also, that some artists – a whole lot younger than us, were a whole lot richer than us. Boo hoo.
To make us all feel poor, a fresh list of 2014’s highest earners directly from music-based revenue streams courtesy of the brains at Billboard has appeared online, producing some pretty surprising results for the previous year.
Billboard have used the total amount of sales, streaming, publishing and touring to reach their end revenue result for each musician, so join us as we uncover the richest solely music-based artists were of 2014.
