They’re here!

Late last night the Rolling Stones’ private jet landed in Perth ahead of their first Australian tour in 8 years. It’s the seventh overall tour for the group who will kick off the tour this Wednesday at Perth Arena.

Promoters Frontier Touring have released a short video teaser of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood, disembarking from their private jet with the soundtrack provided by their 1983 single ‘Undercover Of The Night’.

The band will treat their generations of fans to a set of classic Stones hits like “Gimme Shelter,” “Paint It Black,” “Jumping Jack Flash,” “Tumbling Dice,” and “It’s Only Rock and Roll,” curated with lesser known gems, and a cover or two.

The ‘14 On Fire Tour will see the legendary rock institution playing five ‘one night only’ concerts across capital cities next March, presented by AEG Live and Frontier Touring, including a sold-out headline performance to an audience of 70,000 to open the refurbished Adelaide Oval, the band’s first performance in the SA capital in two decades.

The last time The Rolling Stones toured Australia was in 2006, as part of their A Bigger Bang World Tour, which went on to rake in over $550 million, making it one of the highest grossing tours of all time – second only to U2′s 360 Tour.

Gudinski’s Mushroom Group were recently given the green light for a new 5-year deal to host more concert events at Hanging Rock, with the Rolling Stones concert – on Saturday 30th March, 2014 – to follow in the vein of the sold-out and financially lucrative Springsteen Hanging Rock shows from earlier this year, joining a prestigious group that includes Leonard Cohen and Rod Stewart that have performed at the outdoor site.

The Rolling Stones will also be the first band to play the new Adelaide Oval since its $500 million renovation, playing a sold-out concert to an audience of 70,000 people to christen the new arena. It will also be the band’s first show in the SA capital in over two decades, after the SA Government bumped in $450,000 of taxpayer money towards ensnaring the Stones for the gig (a move that has come under fire by the SA Opposition).
