Chicago party-punks The Run Around are preparing to release their upcoming EP ‘Bombs Away’ and have unveiled the new single which is also the title track.
While the five-piece is never one to shy away from a good time, they also aren’t afraid to comment on the state of the country and the world. With influences that include bands like Hot Water Music, Dropkick, Flatfoot 56, Alkaline Trio, Bouncing Souls, Rancid, Pennywise, Authority Zero, Zebrahead and Rise Against, its safe to say The Run Around is in-your-face, gang vocal- stuffed punk rock that pulls no punches.

The Run Around was born in a 6ft high ceiling of a basement on a fall day in 2006. This was a problem because their bassist is 6’4”. Hard times for their tallest member. Nevertheless, the band would go on to record their first demo in 2007 and their first full length in 2009 entitled ‘Fight The Day.’ But it wasn’t until 2012 when they wrote their biggest hit to date, “Chicago” a no fluff yet prideful dive into the city they call home. “Chicago” would go on to be used on multiple media outlets and it lead to their first headlining gig (which sold out) at The House of Blues in 2013.
In 2014 tragedy struck and their long time rhythm guitarist, Jeremy Kitt, passed away suddenly leaving the band and his family at a loss. The Run Around decided to come into 2016 with the release of ‘Reckless Ones,’ a gut-wrenching tribute to their fallen brother.
Fast Forward to 2020. The band is back in full swing and ready to take on the world with their new Bombs Away EP which is an honest take on the state of the country and the world. Lyrically, the EP is blunt, fearless and unapologetic. After all, isn’t that that punk rock in it’s truest form?
