For those of you in Melbourne this Sunday, or even somewhere in Australia, a very important benefit gig is on at The Tote. Alas Last month, one of Melbourne’s favourite rock n’ roll soldiers, Gavin Smith and his 1-year-old twin boys, Ned and Tadhg, suddenly lost their partner and mother, Cate Groufsky. In a massive show of support from the local music community that Gavin has been involved in for over 20 years (playing in bands such as The Cants, Sons of Lee Marvin, The Ghoulies) – a benefit, support and memorial show will be held on Sunday October 24 at The Tote.

In facing the obvious and immediate financial implications of such a life altering event, this is a genuine way of not only raising much needed funds for the family, but also more importantly it’s a chance for family, friends, associates and even strangers to come together as a community, and show support for the Smith boys, and help celebrate an irreplaceable soul that was Cate.

The line up for this gig is a ripper – THE MEANIES : DIGGER & THE PUSSYCATS : EVEN : BAKELITE AGE : SONS OF LEE MARVIN : DEVILROCK FOUR : RUSSIAN ROULETTES : DAMN THE TORPEDOES : WRONG TURN : NICI BLUE EYES.

Entry is a measly $20 and Tone Deaf urges every gig goer in Melbourne to get down there and show your support – and while you’re at it make an extra donation to an extremely deserving cause. We’ll see you at the bar!
