The Strokes have announced a few details of their much anticipated new album. Ten years after they set the world on fire with Is This It, bassist Nikolai Frature has given BBC Radio a few morsels about the new long player. After initial sessions with producer Joe Chiccarelli were scrapped, they reconvened at six stringer Albert Hammond Jr’s upstate New York home studio to complete recording.
They’re aiming to release the new album in March, with Fraiture saying it’s currently being mixed and harks back to the eclectic sound of their second and third albums. He reckons “Sonically, I feel it’s the album which should have been made between [2003’s] ‘Room On Fire’ and [2006’s] ‘First Impressions Of Earth’,” further pointing out that the new album is full of the band’s “classic sound.”
