Following on from the news that they’ve started work on the follow up to their self-titled second album with Frank Ocean’s producer, The Temper Trap have some exciting news for fans, that they’ll be presenting two very special homecoming shows in Melbourne and Sydney this April and May.
Following wrapping up with Future Music Festival, The Temper Trap are already headed to the regional music festival Groovin The Moo, which has already sold out in Maitland and Bendigo (after just 48 hours), thanks to the strength of its lineup, but the Melbourne quintet have announced two special sideshows to meet demand after an equally eventful and successful 12 months.
The Temper Trap, their self-titled follow-up to 2009 debut Conditions may have received mixed reviews, but eventually became one of the year’s best selling albums according to ARIA, coming in at #33 on their Top 100 best selling albums of 2012 after scooping their annual ARIA awards, taking home Best Rock Album and Best Group in 2012, backing up their 2010 win for the latter in the same category.
They also supported Coldplay on their mammoth 2012 Mylo Xyloto Australian tour while also delivering a satisfying musical slot to last year’s AFL Grand Final, which screened on 6 million televisions in Australia.
The Temper Trap debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Charts in May last year and along with single ‘Trembling Hands’ was certified Platinum with sales breaking 70,000. Just last week, the album was re-released as a special Australian Collector’s Edition containing a host of previously unreleased tracks, remixes, and acoustic re-workings of a number of tunes in their back catalogue.
Joining The Temper Trap for their Sydney and Melbourne shows will be celebrated Melbourne band Alpine, who’ve had quite the year of their own with introductory album A Is for Alpine collecting accolades from music media as well as debuting #1 on Australian iTunes and #11 on the ARIA chart.
Also supporting is MT Warning, whose compositions delicately balance between ‘starkness and chaos’. The band will also be joining The Rubens on the road in April for dates on their national tour, before returning to the UK to join the Field Day lineup in May.
