Deen Castronovo may have been kicked out of Journey in 2015 (due to his arrest for violence), but that hasn’t stopped the veteran rocker from bringing a slice of sunshine to a darker than ever world.

The rocker has shared a video of himself driving around in his BMW howling along to Don’t Stop Believin’, aptly capturing a much-needed sentiment in the current climate.

“It’s kind of pointed for this time…it’s kinda relevant”, he tells the camera before kicking things off, giving hyperactive commentary as he goes. Watch the footage and sing along below.

Castronovo took lead vocals on the bands 2005 album Generations. However, when asked about it in a 2018 interview, he wasn’t overly impressed with the performance that he turned in at the time.

“I listen back now and I cringe”, he said of the performance.

“I could have done better, you know – my first time singing on a record lead like that.

“I would never want to be a frontman. I could never be a frontman. That’s scary, dude. If I’m going to sing, I want those drums around me. I want that protection.”

It’s good to see Catronovo challenging himself and stepping outside of his comfort zone with no snares of cymbals to keep him company.

Check out Deen taking lead vocals for Journey below – and no matter how inspired you get, make sure you don’t go sending any Journey cassettes to friends afterwards either.
