We’re still riding very high from the insane fun that was last week’s Like A Version of an Aussie classic, and this week follows in a very similar vein.

This Friday morning saw hosts Matt and Alex joined by Sydney producer Kilter, who has enlisted the vocal soul-pop Priestess, Ngaiire, to deliver a spell-binding rendition an old d-floor favourite, ‘Ice Cream’ by Muscles – cue the universal cheers of “Woo-Ahh”.

The Hottest 100 hit has been cast in a completely new light, albeit still an absolute belter, Kilter has removed the pounding electronica in the verses to give a more chilled feel. The real star of the rework is obviously Ngaiire who’s stunning vocals add warmth and depth, her soulful delivery enriching the song and carrying it to great new heights.

This year has witnessed some amazing Like A Versions, with a rising local band sending Australia into a tailspin with their ultimate alt-rock mashup, and that’s not to mention the moment our hearts stopped when #1 Dad’s gave FKA twigs a serious run for her money.

That’s not to mention Hiatus Kaiyote’s potential front runner for best of the year, or when Sticky Fingers impressed us by supporting a local act and a personal favourite, when a rising talent showed the big guns how Like A Version is supposed to be done – we just bloody love Like A Version.
