After the success of many of the platform’s creators, TikTok is funding its first musical from the creator of the viral Ratatouille musical.

Musical performances appear to be her to stay on TikTok, as the platform’s creators have seen increasing success by using TikTok as a medium to put their musicals out. This Sunday, for example, “The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical” became the first project that originated on TikTok to win a Grammy.

The social media video app has now announced that they will be funding their first musical project For You, Paige, which will be led by Daniel Mertzlufft— the creative tinder behind Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical.

The Ratatouille musical was a viral phenomenon on TikTok in 2020 and early 2021 and saw many creators adding on to the initial trend with their own ideas.

When the song “Le Festin” from the Ratatouille soundtrack became a commonly used audio bit for cooking videos on TikTok. A parody version of the song soon became viral as well, called “CEO of Speaking French.

The parody featured a female vocalist singing fake French sounds to the tune of “Le Festin.” Usually, this track was used to accompany self-consciously horrendous yet beautiful cooking, among other things.

On August 10, TikTok user Em Jaccs made a video ode to Remy the rat from Ratatouille, singing the lyrics through a high pitched voice modulator, with the lyrics, “Remy, the Ratatouille, the rat of all my dreams/ I praise you, oh Ratatouille, may the world remember your name.”
