Each year, TIME Magazine unveils a list of what it perceives to be the 100 Most Influential People in the world.
These lists include all kinds of people who have “changed the world” in one way or another. This week, 2019’s TIME 100 was unleashed. It includes global pop phenomenon Khalid, K-Pop kings BTS, and iconic pop juggernaut Taylor Swift.
Controversial American politican Donald Trump has made an appearance. Yeah, the Donald Trump who rejected his own party’s recommendations on climate change. However, one placement in this list that we love is Jacinta Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister – bless that woman.
Previously, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Chance the Rapper (whose bodyguard just got sued for a gnarly bodyslam), have been placed in these all-star lists. Even Cardi B made the 2018 list.
One thing stands out that just isn’t quite right. In a time where rappers have legit taken the crown for most popular genre, the absence of one rapper is at the very least, a bit disappointing.
Considering the global influence rappers like Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West have at this point, it really makes you wonder. Why hasn’t a single rapper been included in this countdown?
There are so many darn hip-hop artists changing the game. It’s nothing short of a shame, that they couldn’t find just one to include in their list.
