Melbourne indie-rock/alt-country outfit Tobias Wonderdog have served up a mind-bending animated clip for their latest tune, ‘The Sun’.

Late last year, the Aussie music world was introduced to a brand new name. While Tobias Wonderdog seemed like a newcomer to the scene, it was in fact a new moniker adopted by Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Mat Weaven.

With their music quickly finding an audience keen for the outfit’s indie-rock sounds, the group dished out their latest song, ‘The Sun’, back in July.

Gutsy, gritty, and rooted in the classic rock sound that the band are inspired by, ‘The Sun’ delves into the pressing worries of day-to-do life; something that everyone can relate to.

“The track looks into the constant worry and lack of resolve in life and being tired of the new world order,” Tobias Wonderdog said ahead of the song’s release.

Now, the band have shared an accompanying music video for the track, which features a trip though a gloomy dystopian world.

Linked to “the hopeless feeling one gets as the evil empire inches closer to our existence”, the video boasts an eerie feeling throughout, with animated images of satellites and planes crashing, forests burning, loincloth covered men fighting in the streets, and political leaders feasting with blood on their hands.

Powerful, thought-provoking, and one that will stick with you for a long time to come, Tobias Wonderdog have shared a masterful one-two punch with ‘The Sun’ and its clip. Needless to say, this won’t be one song that will be easily forgotten.
