Aussie musician Tones And I has just given American audiences a performance to remember, making her US TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
If you’ve been following the musical news over the last few months, then you’d be aware that Tones And I is – to put it lightly – something of a success.
Having become the first Aussie to top the ARIA singles chart in a year with ‘Dance Monkey’, the success just kept on coming for Toni Watson, hitting #1 in 16 countries around the world, racking up 500 million streams, and being nominated for seven ARIA awards.
The big news doesn’t end there though, with ‘Dance Monkey’ recently breaking Ed Sheeran’s record for most weeks spent atop the ARIA charts. Not bad for a humble muso from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, eh?

With tour dates all over the world being complemented by similar chart success, Tones And I hit up New York on Monday night to perform her runaway hit to an eager American audience.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tones And I kicked off her rendition of the track in a subdued acoustic style, taking to the piano to give a soulful introduction before taking centre stage as the track ramped up its energy and intensity.
Closing out the track with a huge smile on her face, it seems that Tones And I wasn’t the only one pleased with how things went, with the studio audience offering up a standing ovation, and host Jimmy Fallon simply noting, “that’s the way to do it”.
