Anyone who’s been to New York and travelled through its famous train system will know that the NYC subway is not only a way to get you from A to B on your way to work, but also one of the most exciting music venues you’ll find, packed with amazing live performers.

One of the city’s most acclaimed groups to emerge from the music-filled tunnels, eccentric jazz trio Too Many Zooz are heading to Australia for the first time, having built their way up from busking for commuters, to sharing stages with the likes of Beyoncé and getting shoutouts from The Roots’ icon Questlove.

The raucous, horn-wrangling trio will be playing a string of seven dates across Australia in November, hitting up Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, and playing a handful of gigs at the Queenscliff Music Festival and and Mullumbimby’s Mullum Festival too.

With just a tight trio of instruments, Baritone saxophonist Leo Pellegrino, trumpeter Matt Doe and drummer David ‘King of Sludge’ Parks manage to create some of the most lively, face-smacking music you’ll hear – a signature concoction dubbed ‘Brasshouse’, which melds everything from jazz and EDM with Cuban and Caribbean rhythms, encapsulating the sound of New York in a band that can squeeze into a subway car.

In fact, that’s exactly what Too Many Zooz did in the video for new track ‘Bedford’, filmed live at 3:30am in their natural habitat of the NYC carriages, giving the residents that never sleep something worth staying awake for.

As well as recording a bunch of impressive live clips on the trains and train platforms, Too Many Zooz have released a string of impressive records over the last couple of years, including EPs The Internet, F NOTE, Fanimals, and Brasshouse Volume 1: Survival of the Flyest, and their debut LP Subway Gawdz last year, so there’s plenty to sink your teeth into ahead of the tour.
