It wouldn’t have been an April Fools Day without receiving a grade A troll from the alt-metal overlords, Tool. Having only just revealed to fans that they were indeed back in the studio, working on a follow up to 2006’s 10,000 Days, the band saw the day as yet another opportunity to let fans down.

For the second year running, mastermind Maynard took to Facebook to joke about bringing in Sammy Hagar in to help the band record the new album saying in a post,

“In an effort to nudge the things forward in what seems to be an endless music writing process, Maynard James Keenan has enlisted the help of Sammy Hagar to temporarily replace him as the vocalist for the slow-moving internationally recognized rock monster truck, Tool.”

In another post to Instagram, the band shared what was said to be a “new track”, described by Adam Jones as “not mixed” to manage fans epxectations.

“~ Ok ~ Here’s a new #Toolsong* Just recording the Drums w guitar & bass scratch tracks. Don’t judge the sound – it’s not mixed yet..” said the

The band’s website also shared seven in-studio photos, including images of drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and bassist Justin Chancellor tracking music – you’ll have to sign up to be a member of the Tool army to suss the content, however.
