One of our favourite local rock crews Money For Rope recently embarked on a huge European tour.
During the tour, the band managed to drink a LOT of beer, smash a few guitars, accrue a slew of new fans and even lose a member. As the ‘lost’ member Ted Dempsey recalls “About an hour out of Hamburg we stop for a pee break. The other lads quickly run in and I wake up in my trackies, a t shirt and slippers and run in after them. They don’t see me and think I’m still sleeping in the overhead bunk. I do my business and walk out to see them driving off down the highway. Panic sets in and it’s pretty chilly just in a t shirt and slippers.
About an hour later they realise I’m not asleep in the overhead bunk. Panic sets in for them. Meanwhile I meet an awesome Romanian truck driver who lets me chill in his truck and we watch Fast and the Furious [sic] 6 (totes brilliant btw). The lads come back an hour n a half later. We reunite like long lost lovers and have now arrived in Hamburg for our show on the Reeperbahn.”
