We’re getting closer to the end of 2018, and now triple j have shared their list of most-played artists for the year.

Just last week, triple j Unearthed unleashed their list of the 50 most-played acts on Unearthed Radio for the year. While it was great seeing all of the up-and-coming talent that has been dominating the airwaves, listeners were undoubtedly curious about how their favourite established and international acts fared in 2018.

Now, triple j have answered your questions, revealing their own list of the year’s 50 most-played acts.

Kicking off this year’s list is none other than Middle Kids, who had themselves an amazing 2018, taking home the J Award for Australian Album of the Year. Notably, triple j Unearthed’s most-played list saw Kwame take out top honours, weeks after he scored the J Award for Unearthed Artist of the Year.

As the list goes on, it’s undoubtedly a who’s-who of local and international acts, with the likes of DMA’S, Ocean Alley, Courtney Barnett, Amy Shark, and The Presets repping the Aussies, while The Wombats, BROCKHAMPTON, and CHVRCHES round out the international contingency.

In true fashion, triple j also did a little bit of a deep dive, working out some stats including gender representation (the top 50 were 58% male, FYI), and nationality (the US and UK made up 10% and 12% of the top 50, respectively).

Be sure to head over to the triple j website for a bit more insight into how this year’s top 50 breaks down.
