As usual, it’s been a pretty big week for music on triple j, with some of the finest local and international acts getting some pretty solid airplay. But just what were listeners loving the most this week? What were the tunes that dominated the airwaves, and who were the artists that now have heaps of new fans after plenty of exposure on triple j?

Well, thanks to our friends over at J Play, you don’t have to worry about not knowing who the most popular artists on triple j are each week any more.

20. Billie Eilish

While 16-year-old Billie Eilish took us by surprise last year thanks to the infectious ‘Bellyache’, she’s on track for another stellar year with ‘you should see me in a crown’ currently serving as this week’s 20th most-played track. Get ready to see this one top the chart in no time!

19. Cosmo’s Midnight

After plenty of time spent keeping us waiting, Cosmo’s Midnight recently released their stunning debut album, What Comes Next. Full of brilliant tunes and having served as the station’s feature album, the twin-brother duo have finally given listeners a full collection of their slick tunes.

18. The Story So Far

Having been around for over a decade now, The Story So Far are one of the most prominent pop-punk bands going around at the moment. With their new record, Proper Dose, set to be released next month, the group have recently been scoring plenty of love with tracks like ‘Let It Go’, which is this week’s 19th most-played track.

17. E^ST

E^ST has been absolutely knocking it out of the park lately, signing with US alt-rock label Fueled By Ramen and releasing the stunning ‘I Don’t Lack Imagination’, which is currently this week’s twelfth most-played track. Having had an amazing few months, we’re completely excited to see what the future holds for this brilliant musician.

16. D.R.A.M.

D.R.A.M. has been on the scene for plenty of time now, but as the years pass us by, his profile just continues to rise. Having released his most recent mixtape, That’s A Girls Name, last month, D.R.A.M.’s ‘WWYD?’ has been getting plenty of love, serving as this week’s ninth most-played track.

15. The Beths

The Beths are undoubtedly one of the hottest indie-rock groups to come out of New Zealand in recent times, with their debut, Future Me Hates Me, scoring a majorly positive review from indie tastemakers Pitchfork. With the group having seen plenty of airplay on triple j lately, you can expect to hear plenty more from The Beths in the future.

14. Skegss

Skegss are also hopping on the ‘new album coming soon’ train, with My Own Mess slated to be released in early September. Not content with letting their reputation as one of Australia’s best live acts do the talking for them, the group recently dropped their newest tune, ‘Smogged Out’. Fans have clearly been digging it as well, with the track being named this week’s tenth most-played.

13. CHVRCHES

CHVRCHES dropped their latest album, Love Is Dead, a couple of months ago, and fans couldn’t get enough of its brilliant tunes. With ‘Graffiti’ currently this week’s 16th most-played track, it’s hardly a surprise that CHVRCHES are still going strong on the airwaves.

12. BROCKHAMPTON

BROCKHAMPTON are gearing up to release their new album, The Best Years of Our Lives, at basically any minute now. Having already released a couple of year-themed tracks, including ‘1999 Wildfire’ and ‘1998 Truman’, fans have been digging these new ones enough to see the former score the honour of being named this week’s eleventh most-played track.

11. Gretta Ray

Gretta Ray recently dropped her most recent EP, Here And Now, and triple j listeners have been loving it. Another stunning collection of tunes from the Unearthed High alumni, the lead single ‘Radio Silence’ has ironically been getting enough airplay to score it the position of this week’s eighth most-played track.

10. Matt Corby

Matt Corby has recently dropped his newest song, ‘No Ordinary Life’, and it’s a much-welcome return for the Aussie indie legend. Described as being ‘Willy Wonka-esque’, the track has been getting plenty of airtime, being ranked as this week’s fifth most-played song.

9. Broods

It’s been a couple of years since we last heard new music from New Zealand’s brother-and-sister duo Broods, but that hasn’t stopped the group from putting together some of the finest tunes you’ll hear all year. With their new record, Don’t Feed the Pop Monster, on its way in early 2019, lead single ‘Peach’ has been doing the rounds enough to be this week’s fourth most-played track.

8. Rüfüs Du Sol

Having recently changed their name to Rüfüs Du Sol for good, the trio have been gearing up to release their upcoming record, SOLACE. While we’ve already heard a handful of new tracks from the record, newest single ‘Underwater’ has proven to be another winner for the group, becoming this week’s seventh most-played track.

7. Wafia

Everything we’ve ever heard from Wafia has turned out to be a piece of pure perfection, and her latest track is no exception. Titled ‘I’m Good’, it’s not only the third most-played track on triple j this week, but another sign of brilliance to come from this stunning muso.

6. Mac Miller

Two years on from 2016’s The Divine Feminine, Mac Miller released his latest album, Swimming, earlier this month to critical acclaim. With tracks like ‘What’s The Use?’ and ‘Self Care’ having been doing the rounds in recent months, you can be sure that this is set to be another contender for album of the year.

5. Odette

Having recently stunned the world of Aussie music with the release of her debut album, To A Stranger, Odette has been scoring plenty of love from the music-loving public. With ‘Lights Out’ currently the second most-played track on the station this week, 2018 is shaping up become a pretty huge year for the Sydney muso.

4. Running Touch

It feels like only yesterday that Running Touch burst onto the airwaves with his stunning tunes, but in between serving as a member of Ocean Grove and being an amazing producer, we recently managed to receive his latest track, ‘My Hands’. Currently the most-played track on the station this week, you can expect to hear plenty more from this brilliant artist in the future.

3. Trophy Eyes

Trophy Eyes recently dropped their triple j feature album, The American Dream, and triple j listeners haven’t been able to get enough of the group’s blistering jams, pounding rhythms, and stunning vocals. With tracks such as ‘Friday Forever’ still doing the rounds and serving as this week’s sixth most-played track, you can count on the fact that Trophy Eyes are well on track to score a well-deserved spot in this year’s Hottest 100.

2. Amy Shark

After plenty of excitement and a slew of stunning singles, Amy Shark recently released her debut album, Love Monster, to plenty of critical acclaim. Having scored a spot as triple j’s feature album and a #1 debut on the ARIA charts, Amy Shark is undoubtedly on top of the world right now. With ‘All Loved Up’ this week’s thirteenth most-played track, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be hearing plenty more from Amy Shark in the future.

1. Denzel Curry

Denzel Curry has been rising to the top in recent years, with his first two records receiving plenty of acclaim for their stunning production and lyrical density. Having just served as triple j’s Feature Album, Denzel Curry’s TA13OO is undoubtedly one of the most exhilarating hip-hop releases of the year, and is set to serve up some of the biggest contenders for this year’s Hottest 100 poll.
