The 2019 BIGSOUND lineup has just gotten that little bit bigger, with triple j Unearthed revealing the up-and-coming artists who will be performing this September.

For years now, Brisbane’s BIGSOUND has been one of the most exciting ways that numerous young musicians have managed to get their start.

The largest music conference in Australia, BIGSOUND has seen countless musicians strut their stuff in front of industry tastemakers, only to find themselves selling out venues around the world months later.

Over the last few months, this year’s event has seen a massive list of artists named among those heading to Brisbane this September. However, as usual, a couple of names weren’t confirmed just yet.

Now, triple j Unearthed have revealed the two artists who will be heading up to Fortitude Valley in just over a month, having won their annual BIGSOUND competition.

Check out ‘Drunk’ by semantics:

Announced today, Brisbane act semantics is the first artist to join the 2019 lineup, with this punk quartet receiving airplay on triple j for songs like ‘Talk To Me’ and ‘Maximillian’.

Citing artists like The Menzingers, Modern Baseball, and Joyce Manor among their influences, the group unleashed their latest track, ‘Drunk’, just yesterday. Needless to say, if you’re keen to get a bit rowdy, semantics are the act you need to scope out.

Meanwhile, the second act to join the bill is fellow Brisbane artist Hallie, whose indie roots sound nicely complements the lineup.

With a pop-rock sound to her music, Hallie cites artists like Stella Donnelly, Alex the Astronaut, and Missy Higgins amongst her influences, and is equally on track to be one of the most exciting performers on the Aussie scene before too long.

Both semantics and Hallie join a massively stacked lineup heading to the Fortitude Valley Live Music Precinct this September, with BIGSOUND announcing its second and final lineup just last week.

Check out ‘Nice Like Rice’ by Hallie:
