Wednesday, July 1st marks the second annual No Talk Day where Triple M radio will team up with Beyond Blue with the aim of raising awareness for men’s mental health.

Rolling out across 43 Triple M stations around Australia, this upcoming Wednesday will mark the second time the station has played host to No Talk Day with this year’s chosen anthem being Mike Waters’ newly released, thought-provoking single ‘I’m Doing Fine’.

While normally you’d hear broadcasts covering news, traffic reports, various radio shows, or advertisements, No Talk Day will not have any of the above.

Instead from 6AM-6PM AEST, Triple M will be filling up their airwaves with numerous inspirational stories from Australians who have faced massive mental health issues, and have come back even stronger than before.

Focusing specifically on men’s mental health, Triple M is teaming up with Beyond Blue to relay the staggering statistics when it comes to suicide rates in Australia, where six out of the eight daily suicides are men dying.

No Talk Day will be filled with those sharing helpful tips on how to overcome mental illness, or cope with it, plus Beyond Blue will share tools on how to start conversation, and how to ask for help.

“We’re encouraging Aussie men and women to look after their mental health, and on July 1 we will stop talking to encourage you to start your own conversation,” Triple M Head, Mike Fitzpatrick, stated.

“We know that men in particular find it hard to talk about their feelings. As a network that talks to a lot of Aussie men we feel it’s our responsibility to continue to encourage these men to be more aware of not only their own feelings but those of the people around them.

“It’s been a challenging time for everyone. From dealing with bushfires to drought and more recently the issues that COVID-19 has created, there’s never been a more important time to check in on family and mates.

“We are lucky to be able to partner with an organisation like Beyond Blue to help empower our community and continue to break down the stigma surrounding mental health.”

Tune into Triple M anytime between 6AM and 6PM AEST on Wednesday, July 1st to be a part of the important discussion on No Talk Day.
