18 months ago Thomas Calder started “The Trouble With Templeton” by recording 9 songs in his Brisbane home. “Bleeders” was an honest, raw, heart-felt introduction to this incredibly beautiful young artist.
After starting solo, then building from a duo to a trio, Thomas Calder and his Templeton creation have now, 18 months later, arrived at a stunning new stage in their evolution.
We are proud to introduce to you “The Trouble With Templeton” as a 5-piece band, and their absolutely blinding new song, “Six Months In A Cast”. This time Tom chose to work in a studio, working and forging a deep bond with incredibly talented Brisbane producer Matt Redlich (Hungry Kinds of Hungary, Emma-Louise, Ball Park Music). The song is a furious, fast-paced, high-energy cacophony of soaring melody and driving rhythm. It has a frantic feel with an almost unbearable sense of expectation, culminating in an explosive chorus, heart-breakingly desperate vocals, and an intense, climactic finale.
“Six Months In A Cast” will be released in Australia on 7th September and is the first taste from the forthcoming album.
Calder is also very excited to announce he will be hitting the road with JULIA STONE throughout September, and the full 5-piece band will be playing the Melbourne & Sydney shows.
The “I Wrote A Novel” EP will be coming out in the US & Canada on 4th September. That EP debuted at #18 Most Added at College Radio in the US on the CMJ Chart last week.
Debut album “Bleeders” struck a chord with many, receiving stunning reviews, and strong rotation on Triple J and other community radio nationally. Single “I Wrote A Novel” got to #8 on the AIR Independent Radio Chart, Thomas has played with some of the best artists in the country (eg Husky, Matt Corby, Sparkadia, Big Scary) and some incredible internationals too (eg Of Monster and Men, Father John Misty, Pinback).
