Today Aussie heavy fusion/experimental rockers Twelve Foot Ninja release brand new music. But, this isn’t just any old new music announcement at all.
After a lengthy hiatus from the scene, they’ve stayed on the grind which is why band is back with their first original music in four years. They’ve been plotting away aka recording, filming new music and videos, with the first track being released today.
Today they are stoked to announce that their first single ‘Long Way Home’ is released today, a high energy banger featuring a 12-piece orchestra which can be described as nothing if not straight out of a Gotham City car chase. And the video is as high energy as the track.
Now let’s get to the rowdy part. Not only do we have new music from the group, they went all out to bring us a new film clip too. Before it was released, fans had the opportunity to check it out. How exactly? Well to do so, they had to defeat the band’s very own (self-made) video game.
The video game featured a treasure hunt style, where you had to find 12 DynaTAC cell phones (which date back to 1986) which were scattered all throughout strewn throughout the multi-tiered level to unlock the music video.
Guitarist and creator of the video game, Stevic Mackay said, “We tried to create something that harnessed the power of ACDC with a bend of surrealism, like eating a meat pie through your ear. This song is about the ‘real world’ becoming harder and harder to agree on…I’d rather take the path of resistance, the long way home, than acquiesce to relativism.”
Making it through every level in the game meant you were then granted access to the new music video. And if you missed out, you were definitely considered the minority as in the first 48 hours of the game being released, it had over 10,000 plays from across 76 countries. That’s a pretty mean feat, hey?
