U2 are on their way to Australia at the moment, coupling being the biggest band in the world with another of the globe’s hottest artists as their support – Jay-Z – as only a band of their stature can. All the artists though, have offered their public support to the friends and families of 29 New Zealand mining workers who tragically died in a recent mine disaster.

Bono took to the stage in Auckland on Thursday night, saying “People have ways of dealing with grief, in Ireland we sing.” He then launched in to a poignant version of I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. Jay-Z also paid tribute, dedicating his cover of Forever Young, made a fairly recent Number 1 hit by Sydney band Youth Group, saying “they will always be in our hearts and they will always be forever young”.
