Is it ever going to happen? U2’s long awaited Spiderman musical has been delayed yet again, with the opening now pushed back until February 7th. The ambitious project, which is the most costly musical ever made at $65 million, has been beset with problems including funding issues, technical hitches in previews and performers injuring themselves. The musical, which has songs composed by Bono and The Edge, left some audience members alarmed when the show’s stars were left trapped in high flying action sequences above the crowd.

Producer Michael Cole says “Due to some unforeseeable setbacks, most notably the injury of a principal cast member, it has become clear that we need to give the team more time to fully execute their vision. I have no intention of cutting a single corner in getting to the finish line.” Bono and The Edge, having just wrapped up their band’s Aussie tour in Perth, were supposed to be arriving in New York City next month for the official opening.
