An unreleased song from Pearl Jam’s upcoming album provides the soundtrack for a new Verizon ad, which premiered during Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Pearl Jam’s 11th album Gigaton is less than two months away. The record’s first single, Dance of the Clairvoyants, arrived in late January and the band have now released a snippet of Gigaton‘s closing number, ‘River Cross’, via a Verizon TV ad.
The ad concerns the telecommunications company’s 5G service. Harrison Ford narrates the ad, which focuses on the bravery of emergency service workers and medical professionals. Pearl Jam sent out a link to the ad via their official Twitter account. The tweet indicated that every RT would result in a $1 donation from Verizon to Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy Foundation.
5G is going to change a lot of things. Luckily for us, it will never replace the courage and compassion of those who serve. RT to pledge #OneMoreSunday and @Verizon will *donate $1 to the @PearlJam #VitalogyFoundation: https://t.co/HX8ygvdngO

‘River Cross’ is listed as the concluding song from Eddie Vedder and co.’s upcoming 11th album. It’s the legendary Seattle band’s first record of new material since 2013’s Lightning Bolt. The live album Let’s Play Two came out in 2017, the same year David Letterman inducted Pearl Jam into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Vedder has recently put his support behind Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. He supported Sanders during the 2016 Democratic primary, although Hillary Clinton was ultimately successful. Last August Vedder met up with Sanders at the Gun Sense Forum. The meeting resulted in the below photograph.
Gigaton will be out on Friday March 27 and a major tour of the US and Europe will follow. No Australian dates have been announced as yet. Bassist Jeff Ament described ‘Dance of the Clairvoyants’ as “a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration. We’ve opened some new doors creatively and that’s exciting.”
