As Sydney quartet E For Echo ready the release of third EP Fresh Outta College (out in mid-2020), the band are tiding fans over with a visual gift that keeps on giving.

It’s the video accompaniment for ‘Satisfied’, the band’s new track about society’s definition of happiness, and “the search for unattainable perfection.”

The single itself rails against society’s ideals of perfection and suggests striving for physical beauty isn’t satisfying at all – all against E For Echo’s trademark signifier of lush harmonies that wash over you and draw you in all at once.

The video however, is a wild ride inspired by the hollow smiles and absentminded gazes best found in ’80s jazzercise video tutorials.

E For Echo said of the clip:

“One night we tested out our idea by syncing muted jazzercise videos on YouTube with our song. ‘Satisfied”s dark ’90s grunge sound coupled with the camp ’80s visuals created something so eery.

“Straight away we reached out to Jim (founder, Undefine Media), and within minutes he had locked down a location and dancers. Three weeks on, it was premiering at CLIPPED.TV’s Music Video Premiere night.”

The video for ‘Satisfied’ was shot the the Undefine studio and almost resulted in a few smashed instruments in the process.

E For Echo have been pushing their own boundaries of late. Not only has the band’s sound evolved to tip its hat to ’90s grunge, they recently put out a German collaboration remix and animation video. Plus, they’re also featured as the theme song for human rights podcast Thinking Justice.
