Aotearoa artists Theia and Vayne have teamed up for a single and video ready to inspire your next warehouse party.

‘Creep’ was written at APRA’s inaugural reo Songhubs, curated by Grammy-winning NZ producer Joel Little (Amy Shark, Taylor Swift, Lorde). Little brought together experts in music creation and waiata reo Māori to further the development of a bi-lingual music industry.

Switching from sugary sweet pop elements to gritty hip hop, ‘Creep’ is a bass-heavy, face-blasting affront—in the best kind of way. The song tackles one of the most timely yet archaic issues affecting the music industry today: sexual predators and those who protect them through silence.

Yeah them waves must be hitting cos you washed up
Better say your last prayer before you get locked up
So used to getting what you want I ain’t gon give it to ya
We burning bodies now yeah we singing hallelujah

The notable switches into Theia and Vayne’s ancestral tongue te reo Māori are gut-punching reminders that you don’t need to be fluent in the language to understand how powerful it is when used in song.

When the pair deliver a spine-tingling haka as the finale, ‘Creep’ is taken to another level entirely, the energy lifted yet another notch; the power of the two Wāhine on show in its purest form.
