If rock and roll fans around the world decided to separate from the rest of the world and start their own country somewhere, their first course of action would be electing Dave Grohl as their president.
As the frontman of Foo Fighters and drummer for just about every other band in history, the man is basically the world’s unofficial rock and roll representative. That’s why you’d think he’d know the lyrics to one of AC/DC’s most famous songs.
Alas, during a recent performance fronting Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins’ hard rock cover band Chevy Metal, Grohl forgot the lyrics to the Acca Dacca anthem ‘Let There Be Rock’ and while he quickly got back in the swing of things, the slip-up is now online for all to see.
Chevy Metal recently took the stage at the California State Fair and they got Grohl to front the group, but when it got to the line, “All across the land every rockin’ band was blowin’ up a storm” in ‘Let There Be Rock’, Grohl just sang… well, you can watch the clip for yourself.
To make matters worse, Grohl, a self-described “lifelong devoted AC/DC fan” prefaced the song with a spiel about first discovering the group and his undying love for them, which was sparked by seeing the concert film Let There Be Rock as a child.
“I didn’t really know that much about AC/DC, and me and my buddy went to the local movie theatre that had rock movies at midnight… The movie started out and it was so intense I had never seen a band like AC/DC before,” he recounted.
“It was the first time I’d heard music that made me want to break shit and so it was after that I’ve been a lifelong devoted AC/DC fan ever since.” Watch the footage of Chevy Metal’s performance below.
