Corey Taylor, frontman for Slipknot and Stone Sour, and longtime friend of Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, has paid respect to the late singer with an emotional performance of Stone Sour’s ‘Through Glass’ at their most recent concert.
Performing in Mansfield, Massachusetts, as part of the group’s tour with Korn, Stone Sour played a ten song set to thousands of adoring fans. Three songs before the end of their performance, frontman Corey Taylor took the chance to pay tribute to his friend Chester Bennington, whose tragic death was confirmed yesterday.
“We all lost somebody today. I lost a friend,” Taylor began. “And this was one of his favourite songs. And I wanna dedicate it to him. Chester, we will fucking miss you.” The group then began playing an emotional version of Stone Sour’s 2006 hit ‘Through Glass’.
Incidentally, Brian “Head” Welch, guitarist for Stone Sour’s tour mates Korn, recently came under fire for calling Chester Bennington’s suicide “cowardly”. Welch later clarified his comments: “I didn’t mean to sound insensitive about Chester,” he said. “Just dealing with a range of emotions today. Love you Chester. I’m pissed that you did this, but I know this could have been me back in the day after getting wasted one night.”
