We’ve seen some nasty cases of band vs. fan before (we’re looking at you, Josh Homme), but how about band vs security guard?

That’s what went down on the latest leg of the Vans Warped Tour when American pop-punk group The Story So Far found themselves in the middle of a nasty brawl with festival security, all in the name of standing up for an unfortunate crowd-surfer.

The incident went down at the Montreal Warped Tour, where The Story So Far launched into their crowd favourite ‘Daughters’ when a fan found his way to the front where he was torn from the crowd by a security guard.

Frontman Parker Cannon and guitarist Will Levy spotted the guard roughing up their fan and leapt off-stage to his rescue and confront the aggressive security member, as fan footage of the incident that’s surfaced online demonstrates.

The fight that erupted between The Story So Far and security allegedly also involved Alan Day, of fellow Warped-billed band Four Year Strong. The scuffle eventually subsided with Cannon and Levy returning to the stage to finish the remainder of their set, as The Music reports.

Following the controversial set, The Story So Far took to their Twitter to thank fans for their enthusiasm, avoiding any mention of the fight with security.

He further stressed that employing a large amount of local security meant that “sometimes there is a bad egg,” while in another response to a fan seemed to side with The Story So Far’s actions, saying “no one said he [singer Cannon] was wrong.”
