Kingswood are one of Australia’s leading alternative acts – constantly churning out banging tunes that transcend the realms that guitar music offers and crafting a live show that sends live music lovers into palpitating hysterics.

The band are about to embark on a series of selected Australian summer shows to kick off 2019. Having just wrapped up a massive European tour, and having previously cut their teeth on the road alongside the alongside the likes of a few *tiny* acts like Aerosmith and AC/DC, we thought it’d only be natural that the band have a few interesting stories up their sleeve.

Before you catch their antics live, get acquainted with Kingswood’s most epic tour moments from the last few years.

You’ve recently completed a huge European tour – what was the wildest night you encountered whilst there?

We played an outdoor show in Steyr on a gypsy farm that was full of kids aged between 11-16 who were all on the booze. It was the strangest environment. The show was great but we had to get out of there pretty quick cos it started turning ugly after we wouldn’t go back on for a third time, honestly we ran out of songs to play and at first it was great they wanted us to keep playing but it started to get ugly so we decided to get back in the bus and leg it.

You’ve toured with legends AC/DC and Aerosmith – what were some of the biggest WTF moments you had during these experiences?

Both Angus and Steven don’t drink or do drugs so perhaps that is the most WTF realization to be had from such experiences. Both were very kind and wise and we all get together on Stevens island for a roast a week before Xmas each year.

What are some of the most difficult moments you’ve overcome whilst on tour? What have you learnt from these experiences?

One time on the bus we were playing Overcooked, an excellent Nintendo switch production, my controller was losing battery and it hindered my performance, things like this happen all the time and its hard to stay ahead of the curve and account for such dilemmas. Like if there are only a few Kinder Choco Bons left in the bag, do you have one, or two? Or leave them for the others. You need to have back up bags of choco bons.

Which city is the best to wind down in/ get loose in after a show? What’s your favourite memory from this particular place?

Winding down and getting loose are two very different things. We wound down in a house up in the mountains in the snow after our Graz, Austria, Thomas who built the house made us pasta and we drank his homemade Schnapps. We played Uno, never underestimate the power Uno has to unite and divide.

What do you most look forward to about tour?

Lamb, gypsies, Stevens Island, busses, overlooked, Choco Bons, Thomas (old jimi), Schnapps, Uno. Friendship, love. Playing music, the language of the world.
