Every week a plethora of big name acts, Australian musicians and little-known musos drop brand spankin’ new tracks on the internet. We’ve trawled through the internet to find some of our favourites and plucked them from the masses. Grab your headphones and enjoy.

Laura Marling  – ‘Short Movie’

2013’s Once I Was An Eagle was born out of Marling making a geographical leap to the States, however the Americana influence on her traditional folk stylings is most prominent on ‘Short Movie’ the title track to the songwriter’s fifth record, due for release next March. (CT)

Modest Mouse – ‘Lampshades On Fire’

Modest Mouse’s first single in seven years, ‘Lampshades On Fire’, recalls the most frenetic and dynamic moments of the band’s landmark 2000 album, The Moon & Antarctica. Built on a galloping pace, the track’s intricate layers, classic staccato vocals, and jangly guitar work are quintessential Modest Mouse. (GM)

Pond  – ‘Sitting On Our Cane’

‘Sitting Up On Our Crane’ is the second release from the band that proceeds the stompin’ and chantin’ ‘Elvis Flaming Star‘. The brand-spanking new record is set for release on January 23 of 2015, and in the meantime, you can download this brand new track fromwww.pondband.net. (JH)

GANZ  – ‘Push’ (Remix)

This December/ January KOSHER is bringing GANZ back to Australian shores for a national tour including some very special appearances at Beyond the Valley festival and Harbour Party NYE.

Having recently remixed A-Trak (below) and Odesza, there’s also rumour of him Cosmo’s Midnight, and Wave Racer so keep your eye on him and be sure to catch him in action.

Stax Osset  – ‘Symmetry’

Melbourne’s own Stax Osset has unveiled her stellar and self-produced first single, ‘Symmetry’, which draws equal parts inspiration from childhood nostalgia (The NeverEnding Story features heavily) and a personal fascination with the universal human experience (y’know, love, loss, happiness, and despair).

The singer and producer is part of the new guard of Australian electronic artist/producers who’ve been flying the flag overseas, but her immaculate fusion of quintessentially Britney-esque bubblegum with something utterly extra-terrestrial, paired with her lyrics, strewn with oblique references to cultural symbolism and transcendence of human life, make Stax something totally unique. Seahorse Divorce – ‘Lovers Block’

Formed in 2012 Seahorse Divorce came together from the remnants of a few bands who had been kicking around in Brisbane’s DIY scene.

After releasing a warmly received LP in 2013, followed by a 7″ earlier in 2014, the band are now preparing to release a new EP and announce a national tour for early 2015.

‘Lovers Block’ is the first single taken from the EP Public Transport Fantasy Sequence, which will be released in late January and available digitally through SeahorseDivorce Bandcamp and on 10″ vinyl via Lost Boy Records.
