England’s Wolf Alice have been kicking around for a few years now, and now to celebrate the release of their second record, Visions Of A Life, the group have hit up English TV program Later… With Jools Holland to deliver a stunning performance of two of the album’s tracks.
There’s a pretty strong chance that you’ve been hearing plenty of Wolf Alice this week if you’re a triple j listener, with the North London quartet being the most-played act on the station for the last week. Thanks to the success of tracks like ‘Beautifully Unconventional’ and ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’, the group have been fast becoming indie favourites.
As Pitchfork reports, the group were recently featured guests on Later… With Jools Holland, a musical variety show fronted by Squeeze keyboardist Jools Holland (and has also just managed to rack up 25 years on the air).
Taking to the show, the group performed their aforementioned singles ‘Beautifully Unconventional’ and ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’. As expected from the group, their catchy, soulful indie jams are well received by an eager audience, proving why they are one of the most popular alternative groups on Aussie radio right now.
Of course, this isn’t the first that that Later… With Jools Holland has delivered a stunning performance. Just two weeks ago, Queens Of The Stone Age were one of the show’s guests, performing a stripped back version of ‘Villains Of Circumstance’ from their most recent album, Villains.
An electrifying rendition, it gave eager music fans a chance to see frontman Josh Homme enter full crooner mode as he paraded his typically suave self around the stage.
While we’ve been waiting a little while for Wolf Alice to come back to Aussie shores, the group have been named on next year’s Laneway Festival lineup alongside artists like Slowdive, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, BADBADNOTGOOD, and Father John Misty. So if you’re in the mood to witness in person what you could only otherwise witness on TV, be sure to head along when the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival comes near you.
