What do you get when you combine two of the most successful Aussie acts of the ’00s? You get ‘Chase The Feeling’, a collaboration between Wolfmother and Chris Cester of Jet.
Back in the middle of the ’00s, it was impossible to avoid rock outfits like Jet and Wolfmother. With the former winning the Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album, and Breakthrough Album ARIAs for 2003’s Get Born, the latter sold countless copies of their 2005 debut, making them a household name around the world in the process.
As the years have gone by, the music has continued, though it seems like an opportunity for a collaboration remained just out of reach for fans of both artists. Now, following a combined total of decades in the game, eight-figure album sales, and billions of streams, Wolfmother and Jet have teamed up to debut the hard-rocking ‘Chase The Feeling’.
Borne out of countless text exchanges and ten times as many coffee-fuelled brainstorming sessions at LA hipster coffee joints, ‘Chase The Feeling’ is as authentic as it gets; Cester pounding drums, crushing riffs, soaring vocals, and enough swagger to make you want to buy a leather jacket just to listen to it.
Check out a preview of how the song sounds on the live stage:
“Way back in the day when we were recording the first Wolfmother record, Chris invited us all over for a barbecue at his house in LA,” explained Wolfmother’s Andrew Stockdale.
“I think we all appreciated the sense of camaraderie he and the band had shown us in the early days. So it’s kind of cool to acknowledge these times by combining forces with a collaboration.
“With Chris’s signature style drumming, rock speak and his old mate Jason Hills production wizardry, we managed to give one of my riffs a bit of a Hollywood nip and tuck, without over polishing the wild beast.

“Now it’s morphed into it’s own hybrid anthem for many future backyard cook ups and late night dive bar meanderings.”
“Andrew and I have known each other for years and when he’d come to LA we’d always say ‘let’s do something let’s jam or whatever’ so one day he comes over with this riff, we finished writing it in an hour or two, recorded it all in a couple more,” added Chris Cester.
“No computers, no BPM’s making it all robotic – all live. I think we did six takes!? It felt good to roll the tape and just deal with the consequences…next to a digital record, it sounds like an animal to me”.
Serving as the first taste of an exciting run of new music that Wolfmother are working on, you can be sure more rock goodness is set to follow in 2020.
‘Chase The Feeling’ is out on all good streaming services now.
