Aussie rock legends You Am I are heading out on a two-date tour this year, performing shows in Melbourne and Sydney to coincide with the vinyl release of 2006’s Convicts.

If you’re a fan of shows by iconic Australian bands in intimate venues, then you’ll want to snap up your tickets quickly to see You Am I when they hit the road later this year.

Announced this morning, You Am I explained that they will be reissuing their seventh studio album – Convicts – on vinyl, and will be performing a pair of extra special shows in celebration of the news.

“The recording of the LP Convicts found our band at an odd juncture,” the group explained. The 8th such juncture of the 19 we’ve found ourselves at. So far.

“And whaddya do when you find yerselves at a juncture? You hitch yerself to the fastest hunk o’ junk outta there. Stuck ourselves in a room and wrestled with some toons like kids on detention at the Potter’s Wheel.”

“We listened back lately; we like it. So, we’re releasing it on LP for the first time, and playing some shows. Because we like it. First at a couple of venues we have history with, then we’ll go be Convicts in Europe.”

Reaching #12 on the ARIA charts back in 2006, Convicts saw You Am I continue their reputation as one of the most ferocious rock bands in the country.

Despite being their first record to not feature a song that charted in the Hottest 100, the record has gone on to become a favourite amongst fans, with a vinyl reissue undoubtedly a long time coming.

Tickets to You Am I’s September shows go on sale at 9am on Thursday, July 4th, with early bird tickets to members of the band’s mailing listVinyl pre-orders of Convicts are available now.
