Young Thug has come forward to state his beliefs that chart-topping artist Lil Nas X should not have decided to share a Twitter message revealing that he is gay.

Earlier this month, ‘Old Town Road’ musician Lil Nas X used the last day of Pride Month to come out, revealing the news to fans by asking them to listen to the lyrics of his song ‘C7osure (You Like)’ closely.

“Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more,” Lil Nas X wrote on Twitter. “But before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to ‘c7osure’”

Pointing towards lyrics such as “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow/No more red light for me, baby, only green, I gotta go/Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take ahold/This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old”, fans have noted that the track in question focuses on Lil Nas X’s decision to embrace his sexuality.

While the young musician has already received plenty of support, a recent interview saw him discuss how he has already received widespread backlash and hate for his decision to come out.

Now, US rapper Young Thug – who features on the most recent remix of ‘Old Town Road’ – has explained he doesn’t think Lil Nas X should have gone public with his news, explaining that his concerns are more to do with the backlash the musician will receive instead of being rooted in homophobia.

Check out Young Thug’s recent interview:

“I feel like he probably shouldn’t have told the world. He shouldn’t have told the world,” Young Thug explained to Adam 22 of No Jumper. “These days, motherfuckers, it’s just all judgment.

“Motherfuckers is just judging. It ain’t even about the music no more. Once you found out he was gay, as soon as the song come on now, everybody like, ‘This gay-ass nigga.’ Niggas don’t even care to listen to the song no more… It’s just like, to certain people, you know what I’m saying?

“I just feel like he young, and backlash can come behind anything. [His decision to come out] wasn’t a bad idea, and it was most definitely the best time to do it, during Pride. That was the best time to do it. That was a G’s move.

“But it’s like, he young, and I know he going to be dealing with it in his mind. I dealt with this shit before. I know what he dealing with. So I was like, ‘Fuck, he should have never said that, never should have told them.'”

In related news, Jack White recently opened up about ‘Old Town Road’ in an interview, labelling the song “beautiful”.

“The song is only a minute and 47 seconds long or something,” White explained. “That’s how long “Fell In Love With A Girl” was. “People said, ‘They’re not going to play that on radio.’ But it worked, and it’s great that it’s happening again.”
