Zac Hanson is recovering in hospital following a motorcycle accident that saw the musician sustain a number of injuries.

It might sound hard to believe, but 2019 marks 27 years since Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson got together to turn their brotherly love of music into a professional career.

In that time, we’ve seen the trio go from chart-topping hitmakers with ‘MMMBop’, to veteran nostalgia act, and then come full-circle to that of an exceptionally-overlooked pop rock outfit.

However, the band’s upcoming tour almost found itself in a bit of trouble, with Zac Hanson revealing that he was at the centre of a rather serious motorcycle accident last week.

Taking to Instagram recently, the 33-year-old shared a photo of himself lying on a hospital bed, noting that he had sustained a number of injuries during a motorcycle accident in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma last week.

“Wednesday I was involved in a wreck on my motorcycle while preparing for an upcoming cross-country ride,” he explained. “Though I ended up with three broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a cracked scapula, nothing is injured that won’t heal with a little rest and time, and a healthy dose of gaming!

“Thankfully with good quality protective gear, I was able to walk away, even if very slowly with the help of Isaac, Taylor, and a few of a Tulsa fire fighters.”

With Hanson gearing up to head out on tour later this month, the youngest brother revealed that he won’t be sitting behind the kit for this one, rather, he’ll be replaced by former HAIM drummer, Dash Hutton.

“We will not be canceling any concerts,” Zac added. “Instead, I will be handing over the drum sticks to our good friend Dash Hutton for the next few weeks, and I will be giving my full attention to singing while my shoulder is on the mend.”

Hanson were last in Australia in March of this year, having performed as part of the Melbourne Zoo Twilights concert series, and playing a few headline dates in support of their latest album, String Theory.

Here’s hoping Zac Hanson is on the mend and back behind the kit before too long!
