Over the past year, Linkin Park have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album Hybrid Theory; to commemorate the occasion, the overlords of hyperpop, 100 gecs, have unveiled a remix of album track ‘One Step Closer’.

It’s about as frenetic and anxiety-inducing as you’d expect a 100 gecs remix to be, and so bloody good. It marks the first of a series of Hybrid Theory remixes set to be released over the course of the year.

“Part of the spirit of Reanimation was to take the ‘Hybrid Theory’ songs that people knew so well, and let innovative artists flip them in ways nobody expected.I think 100 gecs did exactly that,” Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda said of the track “

In other news, Mike Shinoda is giving fans and budding musicians the opportunity to have their music produced by him live over Twitch stream. The rocker has launched the #ShinodaProduceMe campaign; in which he’s asking fans to submit their music for him to produce.

“For 2021, I wanted to find a way to give back to my amazing community online. I’m looking for vocalists, rappers, and songwriters who need help getting to the next level,” Shinoda said of the project. “If I find someone great, I’ll produce their track, live on my Twitch channel. There’s no formal contest, just an intention. The fans on Twitch will help me find the right vocalists.”

If this sounds like a project you’re itching to get involved with, Shinoda has outlined a few guidelines:

“My only ‘rules’ are 1.) I’m not doing vocals, 2.) I’d like the artist to only contribute vocals and one instrument, nothing filled-out, just the ‘song,’ and 3.) no back-seat producing, the track has to be in my hands until I feel like I’m done,” he wrote.
