Bands and artists get their start in the music industry in many different ways. Some are lucky enough to send in a demo and get a response, others are discovered through reality singing contests, some even find success with popular YouTube channels.

However, one tried and true method that has seen many musicians find stardom is also one of the most humble – playing on the street. Even some of the music world’s biggest starts were first discovered playing on a simple street corner or promenade.

Soon, one of Australia’s most beloved busker bands, Pierce Brothers, will be embarking on their latest national tour and to celebrate, we’ve decided to highlight some of our favourite bands and artists who started off as buskers.
