It looks like we can add another prominent international name to the rapidly expanding potential lineup set for Soundwave 2016. The most recent addition is none other than enigmatic Swedish hard rockers Ghost.

Speaking recently to FasterLouder, one of the band’s Nameless Ghouls revealed that the band are eyeing an Australian tour around Soundwave time and even hinted, albeit cryptically, at a potential Soundwave appearance.

“We’re not gonna do it this year,” the Nameless Ghoul said in regards to an Australian tour. The band currently have US and European dates locked in for the rest of the year, but Australia is on the agenda for the new year.

“Are we doing the big festival? Are we not doing the big festival?” he added, in reference to Soundwave. However, the Nameless Ghoul did indicate a preference for playing headline shows this time around and not festival dates.

“Australia is one of our favourite places and we’ve always wanted to come back – a third time now – doing our real show, not a festival,” he told FasterLouder. “But it’s hard to move 13 people all over the globe, so you need the right setup.”

Fans can expect Papa Emeritus III and his Nameless Ghouls to hit Aussie shores “sometime in January, February, or March”, either for their own headline tour or for Soundwave 2016, which is set to kick off this January on the East Coast.
