Remember that mural of Kanye West making out with Kanye West? The one a Sydney artist recently added to the wall outside of Zigi’s Wine & Cheese Bar on Teggs Lane in Chippendale?

You know, the one the real Kanye West was almost certainly bound to hate? Yeah, that one. Well, he hates it and he would really like it if the artist behind the work, Scott Marsh, took it down.

But rather than acquiesce to Yeezus and his inevitable army of lawyers, Marsh has opted to make a buck out of the situation. He’ll take the mural down… for US$100,000.

As ABC News reports, soon after Marsh completed the mural, he was contacted by someone claiming to represent West, offering him a “pretty decent chunk of money” to paint over the wall.

However, Marsh isn’t interested in the “decent chunk”. Instead, he wants a six-figure sum for a one-off print edition of the mural altered to look as though it’s been whitewashed.

Oh, and a lifetime supply of Yeezy Boost sneakers, please.

“I’m offering an oversized print which has been painted over for $100,000,” Marsh told 702 ABC Sydney. “It’s an open invitation to Kanye. If he buys that print then I’ll paint over the mural.”

West has two weeks to buy the print or the offer is off the table. So it looks like what started as a hilarious viral story has turned into a tale of celebrity extortion.
