What’s your earliest memory of performing and who inspired you to start?

Me and my sisters used to perform shows for our parents or whoever was there, and just around the time they were getting sick of it we got a VHS camera, so we could tape them and they could watch it later… we did ads that we saw on TV, Perfect Match and songs like i wear my sunglasses at night by that guy and madonna.

You must answer this question honestly. What and where was the first gig you went to?

Inxs, kick. Tennis centre…

You’re going to be performing Bruce Springteen’s sixth studio album Nebraska at Shadow Electric’s March Of The Bands, how you did you arrive at this choice of albums to cover?

Dave from Pure Pop Records asked us to perform it as a part of his classic albums series. I think he put it up to us because we covered a song of it on our first EP.

What’s your favourite track off Nebraska?

Its hard to pick one, because they have all grown on us, but I like Atlantic City, because the character in the story is about to do something very bad, most of the time you hear the telling from after the “bad thing” but the guy in Atlantic City has made a decision that he’s about to do something wrong, so theres a lot more tension and  hope in the telling.

What has been the hardest track to recreate off Nebraska?

Open all night,  too many fucking words. Excellent words though.

You released your second album Hypnotised and received some rave reviews last year, what was a stand out moment from working in the studio with Casey Rice?

I dunno, i think there was a couple of moments when we realised  that the Album was gonna be a good one. Far better than we expected and we’d made a great decision choosing him. And he didn’t mind us smoking at the desk.

If you could curate your own festival, where would it be, who would be on the bill, how many people would you let in and what features would it have?

Lake mungo, south australia, 15000 folks, independants and a couple of overseas acts e.g Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison Sigur ros and the mormon tabernacle choir, a hourly bus service to lake mernindee with acoustic acts serenading travellers on the voyage back and forth and a old time circus on site.

Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living Australian artist would you most like to collaborate with? Tell us why?

Warumpi band,  liz stringer,  brighter later, howl at the moon, cause they’ve got big soul.

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

Strip croquet at dusk in the Grand Canyon and maybe tax evasion followed by a bit of a lie down.

What does the rest of 2013 have in store for Pony Face?

Writing recording, festivals, research and development.

Tell us why we shouldn’t miss your set at March Of The Bands at Shadow Electric  on Saturday 9th March.

We believe our interpretation of nebraska by Bruce, would make the boss pleased, conjuring up the ghosts of the old convent.
