California-kissed, femme rock duo Deap Vally have announced two intimate sideshows to complement their appearance at Splendour In The Grass 2013.
Guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Troy and drummer Julie Edwards will play very special shows at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Thursday 25th July, then at Melbourne’s The Tote on Saturday 27th July.
The Splendour appearance and just-announced Sideshows follow the rocking pair’s warm-up visit earlier this year in April, playing the Oxford Factory previously in Sydney and at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club where they got up close and personal with their adoring fans.
Having first met in a crotchet class and bonding over a love of classic rock (and inventive spelling), Troy and Edwards have quickly found themselves at the centre of some serious buzz, their no-nonsense rock earning them support slots with Muse, The Vaccines, and Eagles of Death Metal.
Their fanbase is sure to swell with the release of their debut album, Sistrionix, on June 24th, with our Tone Deaf reviewer saying of the record that the ‘stunning’ musical partners “put the soul back into rock and roll with a truly inspired debut that is dripping in blues riffs, powerhouse vocals, and stunning exposition.”
Following their Splendour commitments, the girls are hitting up international music festivals, including Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop, and Leeds and Reading Festivals. Meaning that this could be your last chance to catch the live rock whirlwind that is Deap Vally for some time before they’re out our way again, and certainly in such intimate venues.
